Summary

Autonomic neuropathy (AN) is common in ulcerative colitis, primarily affecting vagal nerve function. This contrasts with Crohn's disease, where sympathetic dysfunction is more prevalent. Irritable bowel syndrome patients also showed significant AN rates.
