    Acute measles infection caused severe necrotizing otitis media in children. Pathologic changes included Warthin-Finkelday giant cells and inner ear damage, resembling rubella effects.

    • One case showed significant nerve fiber and ganglion cell loss with striae vascularis atrophy.
    • Adhesions in the cochlear duct resembled those seen in congenital rubella.

    • The presence of Warthin-Finkelday cells highlights a potential link between systemic measles and middle ear pathology.
    • Findings suggest a possible overlap in the otologic manifestations of measles and congenital rubella.
