Learning style research: a critical review of the literature and implications for nursing education
1Department of Nursing, Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven 06515.
Abstract:
Much has been written about the implications of learning styles on the teaching/learning process. As a result, several articles related to learning styles can be found in the nursing literature. Although learning styles is one factor that should be considered when planning teaching strategies, its impact may be overrated. Many studies have ignored the complexity of the learning process by attempting to show a cause-and-effect relationship between cognitive/learning styles and achievement. Other factors that should be considered when developing teaching plans are discussed.
