School nursing: health promotion for school children
Abstract:
This article discusses the findings of a retrospective study looking at the outcomes, in terms of health promotion of health interviews with children aged ten to 11, between 1989 and 1991. A total of 59 children cared for by three school nurses were available for follow-up. It was found that overall, the health promotion given to children was effective in nearly three quarters of the children seen. Problems with feet were the most commonly reported complaint. The author suggests that other districts should consider introducing health interviews into school nurses' work.
