Ophthalmic care for former prisoners of war and veterans
Abstract:
Ophthalmic care for former prisoners of war and other veterans can be extremely challenging for the ophthalmic nurse. To understand or make sense of the occasional bizarre behaviors exhibited by veterans during ophthalmic evaluations, the nurse must be aware of the dimensions of the patients' personalities. As ophthalmic nurses, we must increase our knowledge and understanding of this unique population, which in turn may increase the effectiveness of our interventions in providing high-quality ophthalmic care.
