A variety of tumor-directed "interstitial" treatments based on physical, chemical, and radiobiologic antineoplastic principles have been investigated for the management of patients with unresectable tumors confined to the liver. Cryosurgery, ethanol injection, and laser photocoagulation are reviewed.
