[One-stage rectal carcinoma extirpation and anus reconstruction by transplanting the gracilis muscle]

This article reports 16 cases of rectal carcinoma, who underwent Miles operation of carcinoma extirpation and immediate transferring the gracilis muscle to reconstruct the anal sphincter. The gracilis muscle flap was pedicled with vessels and nerve. The operation kept the anus at an anatomically normal position with good sphincteric function.
