Abstract:
When a patient needs a large restoration quickly, the direct resin inlay can help the dentist satisfy the patient's need. Suitable case selection and knowledge of the resin systems and their characteristics is a must for success in the direct resin inlay modality. Use of a rubber dam and disinfection of the preparation help in minimizing postoperative sensitivity and aid in restoration longevity. Proper diagnosis and treatment planning help insure successful restorations and a happy patient. There are different ways to restore broken or decayed teeth. The direct resin inlay technique allows the practitioner to fabricate the restoration and deliver it to the patient in one visit. This can help the practitioner to fill a void in his or her treatment arsenal.
