[Surgical treatment of the tympanosclerosis]

Sixty-seven patients of tympanosclerosis were reported in this paper. All patients were underwent tympanoplasty. The results showed that the overall successful rate of hearing improvement following operation was 72.9 percent, there was no significant difference in postoperational hearing improvement rate between type I and II, III tympanoplasty patients, the results were better in the ears of patients without a sclerotic region around the stapes than in the ears of patients with a sclerotic region at the some site. Type II, III tympanoplasty was of benefit to patients with sclerotic regions around the stapes more than type I tympanoplasty.
