Area of Science:

  • Vascular Surgery
  • Cardiovascular Disease

Background:

  • Brachiocephalic atherosclerosis and aortoiliac occlusive disease frequently coexist.
  • Managing these concomitant conditions presents surgical challenges.

Observation:

  • A novel surgical technique for combined brachiocephalic and femoral revascularization is presented.
  • The approach utilizes a single transthoracic incision.

Findings:

  • This single-stage procedure effectively addresses both upper and lower body arterial occlusive disease.
  • The transthoracic approach facilitates simultaneous revascularization.

Implications:

  • Offers a potentially less invasive option for patients with complex aortoiliac and brachiocephalic disease.
