Abstract
Objective:
To assess the value of oxymetazoline used in nasal endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS).
Method:
The effect of oxymetazoline on 68 patients pulse, cilium mottom and rebound phenomenon during ESS were observed.
Result:
Pulse and cilium motion are no significant difference after using oxymetazoline. Oxymetazoline reduces about 59% nasal mucosal blood flow and acts over 6 hours.
Conclusion:
Oxymetazoline used as nasal decongestant and anesthesia assistant is safe and effect in ESS as routine.
