Abstract:
Labor unions and legislators are accusing some hospitals of discriminatory billing practices, overbilling the poor, and using humiliating collection practices. The authors focus on the unions targeting healthcare, the litigation, and how these unions are using these issues to advance organizing. Healthcare executives need to empower their employees with information on how money is spent at their organizations to further the organization's mission, vision, and values.
