Abstract:
The author discusses the rationale for the development of the Leadership Enhancement and Development Project (Project LEAD), which was to strengthen the capacity of Black nurse leaders in Historically Black Colleges/Universities to maintain and increase the number of professionally prepared nurses in the workforce. Problems associated with this role were discussed. Outcomes of Project LEAD were also listed and discussed.
