Prefrontal activation deficits during episodic memory in schizophrenia

Schizophrenia patients show reduced prefrontal cortex activation during episodic memory tasks. This dysfunction, particularly in the dorsolateral and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, contributes to memory deficits and may benefit from targeted cognitive and pharmacologic interventions.
