Summary

Passive shimming with austenitic stainless steel patches significantly reduces transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) coil artifacts in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) by 80%. This technique minimizes magnetic field distortions, improving image quality for combined TMS-fMRI studies.
