Interrelation of cell apoptosis and proliferation in the thymus during its involution

In older adults, thymus cells (thymocytes) show both proliferation (Ki67) and cell death (P53) markers. Despite aging increasing cell death, thymocytes retain the ability to proliferate, even in healthy long-livers.
