Supernumerary breast masquerading as metastasis on serial 67Ga scan

Summary
Supernumerary breast tissue changes were incidentally found on gallium-67 scans. These accessory breast findings fluctuated with normal breast tissue uptake, aiding diagnosis.

Background:
- Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a rare skin cancer.
- Gallium-67 (⁶⁷Ga) scintigraphy is used for imaging various conditions.
Observation:
- Incidental supernumerary breast changes were observed on sequential ⁶⁷Ga scans.
- The patient had a history of excised dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans 5 years prior.
Findings:
- Accessory breast appearance fluctuated during the scans.
- Physiological ⁶⁷Ga uptake in the accessory breast tissue was evident, mirroring normal breast tissue.
Implications:
- Recognizing these concomitant changes can improve diagnostic accuracy.
- This finding may help differentiate supernumerary breast tissue from other pathologies on ⁶⁷Ga scans.
