    Background:

    • Cancer antigen 125 (CA-125) is a biomarker often associated with ovarian cancer.
    • Elevated CA-125 levels have also been observed in patients with endometriosis, a condition involving abnormal tissue growth.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between preoperative CA-125 levels and the presence and severity of endometriosis.
    • To differentiate CA-125 levels in patients with endometriosis versus those with intraabdominal adhesions.

    Main Methods:

    • Preoperative serum CA-125 levels were measured in 113 patients scheduled for laparoscopy.
    • Patients were classified into diagnostic groups based on laparoscopic findings, including normal pelvic anatomy, intraabdominal adhesions, and advanced endometriosis.

    Main Results:

    • No statistically significant difference in CA-125 levels was found between patients with intraabdominal adhesions and those with normal pelvic anatomy.
