Abstract:
The skin is the target of several autoimmune diseases which are directed to antigens which are normal components of the skin. These diseases can be differentiated according to the antigen which is the target of the autoimmune process. A great deal has been learned about the pathogenesis of these diseases. However, nothing is known about the causes which triggers the development of the autoimmune process.
