Noncontextual active learning improved crisis resource management (CRM) skills more than traditional lectures. However, these CRM skill benefits did not last long, indicating a need for ongoing training.

- Low-fidelity simulation with noncontextual active learning enhances CRM performance compared to didactic teaching.
- A single CRM education session does not appear to sustain skill benefits long-term.
- Continued education and practice are necessary for long-term retention of CRM skills.
