Abstract:
Shaken Baby Syndrome is still not necessarily recognised as abuse on its own. It is still possible to hear, both from the general population and from some carers, that anyone is likely to shake their baby because of parental exhaustion, for example. Shaken Baby Syndrome is, however, very often associated with other forms of physical abuse, and is considered by the High Authority on Health to be abuse in its own right. Alma B., a nurse in a paediatric ward, talks about her experience of shaken baby syndrome.
