Brassinosteroid-insensitive 1 (BRI1) receptor kinase function is specified by two subdomains, S1 and S2, within its kinase domain. These subdomains are crucial for BRI1 signaling specificity and cannot be replaced by those from other receptor-like kinases like GSO1.
