Background:

  • Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a rare neoplastic proliferation that can affect ocular adnexa.
  • Peripheral ulcerative keratitis (PUK) is a severe inflammatory condition of the cornea with diverse etiologies.

Observation:

  • A 58-year-old male presented with symptoms of ocular discomfort and hyperemia.
  • Examination revealed superior peripheral ulcerative keratitis and a conjunctival salmon-colored lesion.
  • The patient had a history of vitreous syneresis and glaucoma.

Findings:

  • Surgical excision confirmed conjunctival MALT lymphoma.
  • The peripheral ulcerative keratitis was considered potentially related to the MALT lymphoma.

Implications:

  • This case underscores the importance of considering MALT lymphoma in the differential diagnosis of PUK.
  • Prompt diagnosis and management, including local radiation therapy, are essential for favorable outcomes in ocular MALT lymphoma.
