Cotton thread ligation and Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection, alone or combined, effectively induce peri-implantitis in rats. The combined method and cotton thread ligation showed faster and more significant marginal bone loss compared to LPS injection alone.
