Background:

Compassionate nursing care requires integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and social determinants of health (SDOH) into curricula.
Understanding RN to BSN students' perceptions of applying these concepts is limited.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess RN to BSN students' perceptions of DEI-SDOH curricular threads in their nursing practice.
Evaluate the impact of DEI-SDOH content on students' ability to assess and address these issues.

Main Methods:

Pilot project utilizing surveys for RN to BSN students.
Assessed perceptions of DEI-SDOH impact on practice, confidence, and influence in nursing.

Main Results:

DEI-SDOH curricula fostered self-examination and critical analysis of healthcare systems.
Students reported increased competence in addressing DEI-SDOH.

Conclusions:

DEI-SDOH curricula enhance professional experiences and competence.
Equips nurses with confidence to reduce health disparities through effective DEI-SDOH strategies.
