    Summary

Tranexamic acid (TXA) may reduce bleeding in orthopedic surgery, potentially decreasing pain and stiffness. However, studies show TXA offers no lasting benefits for rotator cuff healing in rats and does not harm tissue repair.

    Area of Science:

    • Orthopaedic Surgery
    • Pharmacology
    • Tissue Healing

    Background:

    • Tranexamic acid (TXA) use is increasing in orthopaedic surgery to reduce bleeding.
