Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

5.0K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Current Trends in Nursing II

1.2K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

National Nursing Organizations II

1.3K
Nursing organizations play a vital role in representing nurses working in specialized clinical settings, such as the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
The AACN emphasizes a healthy work environment through six standards to achieve an optimal patient outcome. The standards are appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition, collaboration, authentic leadership, effective communication, and decision-making. In addition, AACN provides certification programs, webinars, journals, and...

Preclinical Development: Overview

4.4K
Preclinical development consists of a series of tests that ensure the safety and efficacy of a new therapeutic compound before it is tested in humans. There are four main phases to this process. First, safety pharmacology tests are conducted to ensure the drug does not produce any acutely harmful effects. These tests examine parameters such as bronchoconstriction, cardiac dysrhythmias, blood pressure changes, and ataxia. Next, preliminary toxicological testing is performed to determine the...

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.3K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching III: Evaluation and Documentation

1.7K
Evaluation of the teaching process enables the nurse to determine if the patient's learning needs were met and if training was effective. If the expected outcomes are not met, the care plan is revised, and additional education or reinforcement is provided. Nurses can ask questions after the session or obtain feedback to assess the patient's understanding of the topic.
Nurses can use several methods to evaluate patient outcomes. For example, oral questions can assess cognitive learning,...

Area of Science:

  • Health Professions Education
  • Online Learning
  • Preceptor Training

Background:

  • Geographically dispersed preceptors require accessible development opportunities.
  • The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the shift to online educational formats.
  • Existing preceptor training programs may not adequately address diverse needs.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the audience, engagement, and effectiveness of an online Preceptor Development Program (PDP).
  • To assess the impact of live and asynchronous online learning modules on preceptor skills.
  • To identify barriers and facilitators to implementing online preceptor training.

Main Methods:

  • A mixed-methods study utilizing survey and attendance data.
  • Statistical analysis (t-tests) to compare session perception and self-reported impact.
  • Evaluation of outcomes based on Kirkpatrick's levels of reaction, learning, and behavior.

Main Results:

  • Significant associations found between overall session perception and preceptor knowledge, competence, and performance.
  • Program objectives were met, with participants reporting key learning takeaways.
  • Common barriers included lack of time and student engagement issues.

Conclusions:

  • The online PDP provided flexibility and choice, positively impacting preceptor knowledge, competence, and behavior.
  • The program effectively met preceptor needs, particularly in providing feedback skills.
  • Future iterations could benefit from advisory group input and enhanced interactive elements.
