Summary
This study shows that vitamin C mesotherapy combined with microneedling effectively reduces gingival melanin pigmentation and can increase gingival thickness. This minimally invasive, non-surgical approach offers a promising alternative for improving smile aesthetics.
Area of Science:
- Dentistry
- Aesthetic Medicine
- Dermatology
Background:
- Surgical gingival depigmentation poses risks, especially with thin gingival phenotypes.
- Non-surgical, minimally invasive alternatives are needed for physiologic melanin hyperpigmentation.
- Vitamin C and microneedling are established in dermatology but understudied for gingival aesthetics.
