Radiographic Evaluation of a Patient with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is an important cause of intracranial hemorrhage. It can be due to spontaneous causes or secondary to trauma. A patient with suspected SAH will most likely get computed tomography scan, which is very sensitive. Based on the findings and pattern of blood, additional imaging may aid in determining the cause of the hemorrhage, including vascular imaging. There are various causes of SAH including trauma, cerebral aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, and more. The appropriate imaging work-up of a patient with SAH is critical to the appropriate management.
