Purpose of the Study:

To systematically review and map the methodologies and outcomes of home-based gait interventions for adults post-stroke.
To identify prevalent approaches, technologies, and reported effectiveness in the current literature.
To highlight gaps and future directions in home-based stroke gait rehabilitation research.

Main Methods:

Comprehensive literature search across major databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, Scopus, Web of Science) from 2015-2025.
Two-stage eligibility screening (title/abstract, full-text) by independent reviewers.
Data extraction on study characteristics, participant demographics, intervention details, and outcomes, with cross-checking for accuracy.

Main Results:

Sixty-two studies involving 3008 adults with stroke were included, conducted across 22 countries.
Home-based rehabilitation was utilized as standalone treatment in 61% of studies.
Diverse gait interventions were reported, with technology-integrated programs (34%) and home-use devices (19%) being prominent. Over 60% of studies reported significant gait outcome improvements.

Conclusions:

Home-based gait rehabilitation is a growing area of global research interest.
The field is characterized by heterogeneous evidence and a strong trend towards technological innovation.
Emerging treatment methods require further rigorous investigation in larger studies to establish optimal interventions.
