Abstract:
This study examined the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and concurrent validity of a parent-screening tool for Fragile X Syndrome (FXS). A mixed methods design guided this investigation of African American primary caregivers and children. Three subscales (developmental milestones, social-behavioral and cognitive) of the Biopsychosocial Screening Inventory for Fragile X Syndrome (BIPSSI-FX) produced the most acceptable indices of reliability and validity. A multidimensional FXS-specific parent response tool may facilitate the early identification of FXS among at-risk children.
