Objective:
This methodological study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale.
Method:
The study included 301 women aged 18-45 diagnosed with cancer in Izmir, Turkey. The language validity was established through the translation-back-translation. Construct validity was assessed via exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was evaluated using internal consistency coefficients and test-retest analysis.
Results:
The Content Validity Index was 0.90. Exploratory factor analysis identified a four-factor structure explaining 67.88% of the total variance (KMO = 0.87, p < 0.001). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed this structure with acceptable fit indices (X2/df = 3.34, RMSEA = 0.07, CFI = 0.90). The total Cronbach's alpha was 0.88, with subscales ranging from 0.75 to 0.90. Test-retest reliability was high (ICC = 0.99). Item-total correlations ranged from 0.31 to 0.72.
Conclusions:
The Turkish version of the Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale is a valid and reliable 18-item tool. Oncology nurses can utilize this scale to effectively assess reproductive concerns in women of reproductive age, guiding counselling and supportive care interventions.
