Abstract:
Palliative care is still too often associated solely with the terminal phase, whereas it constitutes a comprehensive philosophy of care focused on the patient's quality of life, subjectivity, and dignity. This article provides a systematic and clinical overview of the medical, psychological, ethical, and organizational components of palliative care, with a view to understanding how this approach can support people in their fragile state, anticipate loss of autonomy, and preserve continuity in the caregiver-patient relationship. It highlights the need for interdisciplinary coordination and a care approach that recognizes the therapeutic value of conversation, presence, and connection.
