None:
Constipation in childhood is a frequent reason for consultation, mostly associated with disorders of the gut-brain axis and less frequently with organic disease. Treatment is usually with osmotic laxatives, with an adequate response. On the other hand, hypothyroidism can cause constipation symptoms, and although it is considered a rare symptom, thyroid function should be evaluated in the presence of refractory constipation. The objective of this study was to evaluate thyroid function tests in children with functional constipation who did not respond to initial treatment with osmotic laxatives.
