Abstract:
The expansion of cross-continent university partnerships and dual-degree programs has intensified students' workload, making self-regulated learning (SRL) skills increasingly essential. To address this, peer-support models must extend beyond subject-specific tutoring to include strategies that foster study skills and well-being. This paper presents an innovative adaptation of near-peer tutoring (NPT) in a dual-degree, cross-cultural context, integrating transferable study skills alongside content support. The design aimed to enhance learning without adding to the tutee's workload. Additionally, it helped to reduce the potential stigma often associated with seeking academic support. The model offers a scalable approach to support that is aligned with broader priorities in medical education.
