Contemporary vocal pedagogy frequently relies on outcome-oriented instruction, despite growing evidence that vocal function emerges from complex physiological and acoustic interactions rather than direct parametric control. The primary contribution of this study is theoretical: it proposes a design-based framework that synthesizes converging evidence from established empirical voice science into a coherent, pedagogically actionable model-thereby addressing a documented gap between scientific findings and instructional practice. Vocal outcomes are conceptualized as emergent phenomena arising from the coordinated interaction of task-level controllable conditions, termed operations. A systematic distinction is introduced between operations-defined as coordinatively controllable conditions encompassing respiratory engagement, laryngeal configuration, and vocal tract shaping-and phenomena, defined as perceptual-acoustic outcomes such as resonance, projection, and phonatory stability. Vocal phenomena cannot be reliably achieved through direct phenomenological targeting alone, but can be systematically induced through the deliberate design of underlying coordinative conditions. This argument is substantiated through convergent support drawn from published theoretical and empirical research on nonlinear source-filter coupling, subglottal pressure dynamics, acoustic efficiency and formant tuning, and motor learning under attentional focus conditions. The pedagogical philosophy of Giovanni Battista Lamperti is reinterpreted within this framework, demonstrating that his foundational principles of appoggio, tonal unity, and nonmechanical instruction constitute an implicit and empirically congruent articulation of emergent vocal function. A diagnostic-intervention model is proposed that translates these theoretical principles into systematic pedagogical and clinical application. Four falsifiable empirical predictions are identified to guide future experimental validation of the framework.
