1University of Georgia College of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Athens, GA, United States.
Objective:
To describe names of the 2633 crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) in the United States in 2024.
Study Design:
Using CPC Map, a national geolocated directory of CPCs, we categorized center's client-facing names as (1) portraying healthcare facilities or (2) unbiased and supportive of reproductive autonomy. We examined associations between percentages of names in each or either category and state policies (CPC grant funding and abortion bans).
Results:
Nationally, 16.0% presented as healthcare facilities, 12.6% unbiased, and 25.5% as either, with state variation. Names were not associated with state policies.
Conclusions:
CPCs commonly used names that may misrepresent their licensure and agenda.
