Total Synthesis of the Proposed Structure of Cyclodepsipeptide Menominin B and Its Structural Revision

Herein, the total synthesis of both the originally proposed structure of menominin B and its corresponding C2 epimer is reported. Through careful comparison of the data of the synthetic compounds to the data reported for the natural product, it is demonstrated that the structure initially assigned to menominin B was incorrect. Instead, the findings clearly established that the true structure of the natural product corresponds to the C2 epimer of the originally proposed molecule, thereby correcting the structural assignment of menominin B.
