Abstract:
Genitourinary syndrome of menopause includes symptoms and signs that follow a lack of estrogen in the vagina and lower urinary tract, e.g. dryness, irritation, and burning sensation, leading to vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA). Non-hormonal moisturisers and/or vaginal estrogen may reduce symptoms. Some women are offered energy-based treatments, e.g., CO2 laser treatments, to relieve symptoms; however, this type of treatment is not certified in Europe or the USA for that indication. In this case report, vaginal stenosis is found in a 63-year-old woman after having 4 times of CO2 laser treatments.
