Abstract:
Malrotation of the intestine is a congenital disorder that often presents in early childhood with small bowel volvulus. In this case, we present an 86-year-old patient with three previous episodes of small bowel volvulus and frequent episodes of severe abdominal pain. On reexamination of previous CT scans, isolated duodenal malrotation with the duodeno-jejunal junction being located to the right of the midline was detected. A modified Ladds procedure was performed, whereafter the patient remained symptom-free.
