Abstract:
Colectomy is one of the most frequently performed major abdominal operations. Missteps during colon surgery, whether related to anatomic misidentification, inadequate exposure, or intraoperative decision-making, can adversely affect both short-term and long-term outcomes. In this article, we emphasize the importance of meticulous preoperative planning and a comprehensive understanding of colorectal anatomy for colectomy. Anticipating potential pitfalls and recognizing complications early are essential to preventing catastrophic events and limiting harm. When challenges occur, prompt management and careful attention to surgical details are critical. Through preparation and fastidious operative technique, surgeons can enhance patient safety and optimize outcomes across all clinical scenarios.

Endoscopic Procedures II: Colonoscopy
Inflammatory Bowel Disease I: Ulcerative Colitis
Inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, encompasses a group of disorders characterized by chronic inflammation or ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract.
Risk Factors
The exact cause of IBD remains unclear, although it is believed to be due to a mix of genetic, environmental, microbial, and immune factors. Genetic factors are significant in determining susceptibility to IBD, with family history being a critical risk factor. Individuals with a first-degree relative who has IBD are at...
