Abstract:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into cleft and craniofacial care to facilitate objective assessment, optimize treatment planning, and improve outcome evaluation. By leveraging 3-dimensional imaging, machine learning, and automated workflows, AI addresses key clinical challenges such as anatomic variability, limited robust normative references, and reliance on subjective expertise. Recent developments enable streamlined data acquisition and automated design of surgical devices. This article reviews current applications and highlights clinically relevant advances toward integrated digital workflows and emerging digital twin concepts, with the goal of improving precision, efficiency, and accessibility across cleft and craniofacial treatment pathways.
