Abstract:
For many years, Germany has been facing shortages in healthcare labour supply. With its Triple Win program, the country started in 2013 to recruit nurses for traineeship from Vietnam for Berlin. This article reflects on the way recruitment took place under this scheme within an already existing recruitment landscape. It presents empirical findings on how nurses perceived their trajectory to Berlin, and sketches the constellations of actors. It relates current vulnerabilities of youngsters from Vietnam in vocational training in Berlin to the created migration corridor. This article adopts Walton-Roberts thinking about a considerable gap in research around these actors who are mentioned in many reports and interviews, yet their roles and influence have not been further disentangled.
