Abstract:
Cardiac patches implanted onto the heart surface are a prospective treatment for myocardial infarction. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Xie et al. provide evidence that patches matching myocardial electroconductivity not only reestablish cardiac conduction after injury but also induce endothelial differentiation of epicardial cells to promote heart repair.
