Abstract:
A new technique for renal revascularization has been developed that involves placement of an interposition saphenous vein bypass graft from the lower thoracic aorta to the renal artery. The initial clinical results with this approach have been excellent. Thoracic aortorenal bypass has several advantages and can be useful in the management of selected older patients with severe atherosclerosis of the abdominal aorta and renal arteries.
