Poorly differentiated carcinomas (PDCs) in the thyroid gland, specifically papillary carcinoma-related PDCs (pPDCs), are distinct entities, not just variants. These pPDCs show a stronger correlation with adverse prognostic factors and higher recurrence rates than conventional papillary carcinomas (PCs).
