[Oxidative stress and its role in carcinogenesis]
Abstract:
A review presents analysis of data on involving the oxygen active forms and products of lipid peroxidation resulted from oxidative stress in carcinogenesis at all its levels and during the treatment of cancer patients. Role of various classes of antioxidants in decrease of damaging effect of oxidative stress on DNA structure, state of plasmatic membrane and extracellular matrix as well as the prevention of development and progression of neoplasm is shown. The authors consider that use of antioxidants is well grounded during cytoreductive therapy in patients with various malignancies.
