Background:

  • Seborrhoeic keratosis and stucco keratosis are common skin conditions.
  • The role of cell-mediated immunity in these conditions requires further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the T-lymphocyte counts in patients with clinically diagnosed seborrhoeic keratosis and stucco keratosis.
  • To determine the association between T-lymphocyte levels and these skin conditions.

Main Methods:

  • Histopathological confirmation of 148 cases of seborrhoeic keratosis and 12 cases of stucco keratosis.
  • Peripheral T-lymphocyte counts were determined using Thomson's E-rosette method (1977).

Main Results:

  • Histopathology confirmed 123 cases of seborrhoeic keratosis and 8 cases of stucco keratosis.
  • Peripheral T-lymphocyte counts were statistically significantly increased in both seborrhoeic keratosis and stucco keratosis patients.
  • The findings suggest a significant role for cell-mediated immunity in seborrhoeic keratosis.

Conclusions:

  • Cell-mediated immunity plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of seborrhoeic keratosis.
  • Increased T-lymphocyte counts are observed in both seborrhoeic keratosis and stucco keratosis.
