To explore and analyze factors influencing nursing doctoral students during their programs.
To describe the perceptions and experiences of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students.

Main Methods:

A national descriptive survey of nursing doctoral students across the United States was conducted.
Qualitative data from an open-ended survey question were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method.

Content analysis revealed issues specific to DNP students, including a lack of clarity surrounding the DNP degree.
