Abstract:
Three novel perylene diimides featuring [1,2]dithiine and sulfur annulation onto the PDI core and different branched alkyl chains have been designed and facilely synthesized. The organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) devices based on the as-synthesized compounds showed maximum electron mobilities of up to 0.008 cm2 V-1 s-1 under an ambient atmosphere.

Dehydration Synthesis
Dehydration synthesis (also called a condensation reaction) is the chemical process in which two molecules covalently link together to form a new molecule, along with the release of a water molecule. Many physiologically important compounds form by dehydration synthesis reactions, such as complex carbohydrates, proteins, DNA, and RNA.
